ALSTOM

ALSTOM is a global specialist in the energy and transport industries with over 140,000 employees in 70 countries, and annual sales in excess of $20 billion.

In North America, ALSTOM Transport sector creates and maintains rail vehicles, transmission and power distribution equipment, and rail control and information systems. ALSTOM Transport Information Solutions activities in North America have been based in Rochester, New York since the company purchased General Railway Signal (GRS) in 1998. The company also encompasses Telecite, creator of passenger information systems, based in Montreal, Canada.

ARINC

 

Incorporated December 2, 1929, Aeronautical Radio, Inc., was chartered by the Federal Radio Commission (later to become the Federal Communications Commission) to serve as the airline industry's "single licensee and coordinator of radio communication outside of the government." The corporation's stock was held by the four major airlines of the day.

Soon the company, known in the industry as ARINC, took on responsibility for all ground-based, aeronautical radio stations and for ensuring station compliance with FRC rules and regulations. From this base technology, we expanded our understanding of—and contributions to—the rapidly emerging world of transportation communications, continuing to support the commercial aviation industry, as well as the U.S. military.

BART

The Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is a 95-mile, automated rapid transit system serving over 3 million people in the three BART counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco, as well as northern San Mateo County.

Thirty-nine BART stations are located along five lines of double track. Trains traveling up to 80 mph connect San Francisco to Colma and other East Bay communities--north to Richmond, east to Pittsburg/Bay Point, west to Dublin/Pleasanton, and south to Fremont. Since opening in September 1972, BART has safely carried over one billion and a half passengers more than 18 billion passenger miles. BART stations are fully accessible to disabled persons.

BBR

 

Based in Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania, Balfour Beatty Rail, Inc. serves the Class 1 Freight Railroads, Short Line, and regional railroads, industrial facilities and rail transit authorities. BBR provides high quality communication and signal systems to rail transit agencies and freight railroads throughout North America. It is recognized as a leader in signal system design and engineering, construction, maintenance and wiring services. With more than 50 signal engineering staff members, 150 field personnel and a corporate staff, it can solve the full range of signal and communication challenges.

Bombarier

Bombardier Transportation is a world leader in the development and supply of complete transportation systems.  Working in partnership with local civil contractors and suppliers, they design, integrate, install and deliver the industry's broadest range of technologies - from large-scale urban transit systems to airport people movers.

The acquisition of Adtranz (a valued customer of B&C Transit Consultants, Inc) by Bombardier Transportation was the most significant strategic move the industry has yet seen to create a true global leader in the design, manufacture and delivery of railway vehicles and services.

CalTrain

Passenger service on the peninsula corridor began on Oct. 18, 1863 under the authority of the San Francisco and San Jose Railroad Company. The state assumed sole responsibility for station acquisitions and other capital improvements until the service resulted in formation of the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board in 1987. The JPB agreed to assume operating responsibilities for Caltrain effective July 1, 1992, and to shoulder 100 percent of the operating subsidy a year later. In December 1991, the JPB purchased the rail right of way from San Francisco to San Jose. The JPB secured trackage rights to Gilroy for another $4 million, with an option to acquire half the right of way in the future. S.P. retains rights to operate freight service in the corridor. As its legacy to the JPB, Caltrans has deeded 26 stations, 20 diesel locomotives and 73 bi-level passenger cars to the local agency.

Chevron Texaco Corp. ranks among the world's largest and most competitive global energy companies. Headquartered in San Ramon and active in more than 180 countries, it is engaged in every aspect of the oil and gas industry, including exploration and production; refining, marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation.

Chevron Texaco had approximately 12 billion barrels of oil-equivalent net proved reserves at December 31, 2003. Daily production in 2003 was 2.5 million net oil-equivalent barrels per day. In addition, the company had a global refining capacity at year-end 2003 of 2.2 million barrels of crude oil per day. The company has a worldwide marketing network in 84 countries with approximately 24,000 retail sites, including those of affiliate companies. The company also has interests in 13 power generating assets in the United States, Asia and Europe

Clayborn Contracting

Located in the Auburn/Grass Valley area of California, Clayborn Contracting Group, Inc. is a diversified construction firm that operates throughout northern California. Clayborn Contracting Group, Inc. has installed more changeable message signs, more weigh-in-motion and more weigh station bypass systems than any other single contractor in northern California.

Granite Halmar

 

Granite Halmar Construction Company, Inc. is a premier New York contractor with an impeccable 39-year record for completing high quality projects on time and within budget. The company and its predecessors were founded in 1962 and have continuously operated as a heavy-civil construction firm ever since. Granite's acquisition of Halmar in July of 2001 establishes a permanent presence for Granite Construction in the New York region.

Helix Electric

Helix Electric Incorporated was founded in 1985 based on the idea of creating a team-oriented and employee-empowered corporate culture. It was that unique vision, combined with consistent, competitive performance that fueled Helix's rapid rise. Today, San Diego-headquartered Helix Electric is one of the most successful electrical “open shops” in the nation. With branch offices throughout California and Nevada, it expanded to a full spectrum electrical subcontracting company.

LACMTA

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Agency is unique among the nation's transportation agencies. It serves as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder and operator for one of the country's largest, most populous counties. More than 9 million people - one-third of California's residents - live, work, and play within its 1,433-square-mile service area.

Besides operating over 2,000 peak-hour buses on an average weekday, Metro also designed, built and now operates 73.1 miles of Metro Rail service. The Metro Rail system consists of the Metro Red Line subway system, the Metro Blue Line, the Metro Green Line, and the Metro Gold Line. In total, the Metro Rail system serves 62 rail stations stretching from Long Beach to downtown Los Angeles to Hollywood, Universal City and North Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley, from downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena and from Norwalk to El Segundo and all points in between.

London Pacific Advisors

London Pacific Advisors are a wholly-owned subsidiary of London Pacific Group Limited, a New York Stock Exchange listed financial services company, with approximately $5 billion of investor assets under management or administration and over $600 million of net capital.

LPA is most noted as the leading provider of comprehensive back office services and fee-based investment products to financial institutions and advisors.

MARTA

MARTA is the 9th largest transit system in the U.S. and North America that provides bus, rail and paratransit service. MARTA operates 350 rail cars in 38 stations on 47.6 miles of rail, operates 691 buses with 125 bus routes covering 1128 route miles per day, and operates 11o paratransit vans on an average of 275,000 hours per year. MARTA's service population is 1,854,338 in the City of Atlanta, Fulton, and DeKalb County, and 7 miles (to the airport) in Clayton County. Since the beginning of rail service in 1979, MARTA has transported approximately 3.5 billion people, or ten times the entire population of the U.S.

MBTA

The MBTA - or the "T" as its commonly known in and around Boston - is the country's oldest subway system. Since its inception in 1897, the T has evolved to the point where it now serves approximately 600,000 customers with 1.2 million trips a day. Currently,(2001), the MBTA remains the nation's 4th largest mass transit system. It serves a population of 2,608,638 in 175 cities and towns with an area of 1,038 square miles. To carry out its mission it maintains 155 bus routes, 3 rapid transit lines, 5 streetcar (Central Subway/Green Line) routes, 4 trackless trolley lines and 13 commuter rail routes. Its roster of equipment consists of 980 buses, 219 light rail vehicles, 12 PCC's, 50 trackless trolleys, 55 commuter rail locomotives, 288 commuter rail coaches and 155 MBTA-owned specially equipped vans and an additional 120 contractor-supplied specially equipped vans. The average weekday ridership for the entire system is 1,127,417. Commuter rail carries 117,517.

MTA

MTA subways, buses, and railroads move 2.4 billion New Yorkers a year, about one in every three users of mass transit in the United States and two-thirds of the nation's rail riders. This vast transportation network — North America's largest — serves a population of 14.6 million people in the 5,000-square-mile area fanning out from New York City through Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut.

The MTA network links the diverse parts of New York, enabling residents and visitors to get where they want to go swiftly and at reasonable cost. MTA services offer the region efficient, environmentally sound travel alternatives to gridlocked streets and highways. And the mobility provided by the MTA helps ensure New York's place as a world center of finance, commerce, culture, and entertainment.

NCTD

The North San Diego County Transit Development Board (NSDCTDB) was created by California Senate Bill 802 on September 20, 1975. NCTD's geographical service area encompasses 1,020 square miles of North San Diego County extending from Del Mar in the South, Northeasterly to Escondido, North to the Riverside County line and West to the Orange Count line. The area includes the unincorporated communities of Fallbrook and Ramona as well as Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base. Other cities in the service area include Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista and San Marcos. The total population of NCTD's service area is 823,000.

Port of San Francisco

The Port's history reaches back to the early years of California statehood. With the Gold Rush attracting hundreds of ships to San Francisco Bay from around the world, a State Commission was created in 1863 to improve the City's harbor. As the City moved into the 20th century, the Port grew in leaps and bounds. The waterfront became an industrial area of finger piers, railroad terminals, and warehouses.

Sacramento RT

The Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) operates 80 bus routes and 26.9 miles of light rail covering a 418 square-mile service area. Buses and light rail run 365 days a year using 76 light rail vehicles, 258 buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and 17 shuttle vans.

Passenger amenities include 41 light rail stops or stations, 21 bus and light rail transfer centers and 14 free park-and-ride lots. RT also servers more the 3,800 bus stops throughout Sacramento County.

San Francisco Municipal Railway

The San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) is the seventh-largest public transit system in the United States, as measured by ridership. Muni has approximately 700,000 boardings on an average weekday. Its fleet of about 1,000 vehicles, over half of which are electric, consists of subway-surface light-rail vehicles (Metro streetcars), electric trolley buses, diesel buses, the world-famous cable cars, the only ones in the world still operating, and a unique collection of historic streetcars. The first publicly owned streetcar system in a major city in the U.S., Muni has been taking the people of San Francisco where they want to go since 1912.

SCCI

Established in 1990, Shimmick Construction Co., Inc. (SCCI) a general engineering contractor based in Hayward, California, has rapidly succeeded in earning a reputation for excellence in heavy construction. Since its inception, SCCI has continued to grow and maintain an excellent financial profile while completing over a half billion dollars worth of work.  This continued financial growth and stability along with a stellar reputation, has attracted established heavy construction companies and multi-billion dollar, international construction companies to establish joint venture partnerships with SCCI.

SEPTA

On February 18, 1964, The Pennsylvania General Assembly established the Southeastern Pennsylvania Authority (SEPTA) to provide public transit services for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties.

Today SEPTA is the nation's fifth largest public transportation system, with a vast network of fixed route services including bus, subway/elevated, trackless trolley, light rail, and commuter rail serving a 2,200 square mile service region. SEPTA is also one of the region's largest employers, with a workforce of about 9,000 employees.

SYSTRA

Since the sixties, SYSTRA's engineers have successfully carried out projects in more than 100 countries and 225 cities. Drawing on its outstanding engineering, planning and operations know-how, SYSTRA has contributed to the creation and development of several major projects worldwide.

Operating on major international engineering markets, its activities cover all the skills and expertise in the field of urban and rail transport, from high speed trains to buses, through to intermodal transport, conventional rail, suburban or inter-city rail services, metro, tramway, automatic guided systems, road guided systems and people movers.

Union Switch & Signal

 

Union Switch & Signal is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Located on the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh.

Union Switch & Signal is a wholly-owned operating subsidiary of Ansaldo Signal N.V., a Netherlands holding company with subsidiaries in the rail-based signaling and communications industry.

Union Switch & Signal serves the Class I freight railroads, the national passenger railroads, and numerous regional and short line railroads in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. US&S serves rail-based mass transit operators in North America and around the world. US&S also serves mass transit operators in Korea and Taiwan and railroads and mass transit operators in China. Its Australian subsidiary serves rail customers in Australia and southeast Asia.

UTA

 

1986 and 1996 Utah UTA won the APTA Award for the most efficient transit agency of its size in the nation. UTA serves a population of 1,513,000.

WMATA

The Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA) was created by an interstate compact in 1967 to plan, develop, build, finance and operate a balanced regional transportation system in the national capitol area. The Authority began building its rail system in 1969, acquired four regional bus systems in 1973, and began operating the first phase of Metrorail in 1976.

Today, Metrorail serves 83 stations and 103 miles of track. A fleet of 900 rail cars provides service. Metrobus serves the nation's captial 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week with 1,443 buses. Metrorail and Metrobus serve a population of 3.4 million within a 1,500 square mile jurisdiction.

VTA

 

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) began as a County department created by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors on June 6, 1972 to oversee the region’s transportation system. VTA's 500+ vehicle bus fleet serves a 326 square mile urbanized area. The 28.4 mile light rail system is operated with a fleet of 50 cars. VTA employs approximately 2,650 people.
